Australian Weeds Committee - Newsletter No. 7. February 5, 2007 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- National Weed Spread Prevention Draft Action Plan The above document has been released for public consultation which includes community, industry and landholders, and a web based comment form can be accessed by the link below. The plan is restricted to spread by humans which covers more than 90% of the national invasion pathways, the remainder results from natural causes, flood, wind and spread by animals which are largely beyond human control at this stage. This action plan will cost all sectors time and money which will be offset by future savings in control and reduced production losses. Typically for every dollar invested in spread prevention results in benefits of between $25 to $38. This action plan is asking all sectors to be proactive and prevent the spread of invasive weeds. It is important that all groups and individuals who might be affected by the plan consider it’s impact and effectiveness and advise any concerns, improvements or other matters to the Australian Weeds Committee. For those people requiring hard copy of the draft plan it can be obtained by emailing a request to the address below.
